In 1963, when the auction of North Sea fish started on the island Urk, a number of fish-traders decided to co-operate and set up a new company , called Urker Vis Export Combinatie , with a view to trading as well as to processing the fish.

One of the founders , the Schrijver family , came into possession of all the shares and succeeded in continuing and extending the firm by the name of Urk-Export. In the last 40 years the firm has built up a good relationship with her customers . Many of them have dealings from the beginning up to now.
